Project Manager

It is a big company, but it has a small company feel.

PROJECT MANAGER

I started at Pieper in 2007 as an intern. Upon graduation I was hired full-time as a project engineer, then assistant project manager and now a project manager. A majority of the work we do currently is assigned by a major investor owned utility, with whom we have a 3-year contract for overhead work. Often times our work is a matter of getting the power back on. We do a lot of storm work so we are able to help people out and give them the power they need to live their lives.

In my role, I manage the project from start to finish – which includes management of labor/manpower, equipment, material – so all aspects of the project through closeout and billing. No two jobs and no two days are the same – so there is no chance of being bored and no lack of challenge. I feel like I am empowered to run the department as if it is my own business. I really enjoy the freedom to be able chase a niche market and to pursue work in new lines of construction with which we would like to be involved. The opportunity for advancement and development is always there and always supported.

I enjoy the people I work with; it’s a great group both in the office and in the field; everyone works well together – which is why I remain committed to Pieper. It is a big company, but it has a small company feel.

The field staff, and specifically the foremen, are instilling the company’s values and being servant leaders in their teaching. They teach the linemen and apprentices the correct way to do things so they can go home safely. I find that the company’s values mirror my family values – it has always been instilled in me to do the best that I can by my grandfather & my uncles.

I take pride in driving by a completed project and telling people “MP Systems did that”.
