Stories from the Field
Journeyman Inside Wireman
My mom taught me about taking care of people, doing things for people. She did things for people because she loved them; she wanted to help them. Mom and Dad never had a lot of money, but us kids really never wanted. They sacrificed and taught us great character. I can’t say enough about that. I was very influenced by my upbringing.
Vice President
We do not have a pyramidic management, we do not have stumbling blocks. If anybody wants to be president of the company, there’s a tracking method here for them to go through and become the president of a company.
Linecrew Foreman
If you know what you’re doing, you don’t have to be afraid of it. You just have to be aware. Whatever happens, I gotta maintain my cool too. Even if something starts falling apart, it can’t rattle you. I gotta be able to deal with it and keep everything safe.
Branch Manager
And now when I develop a team, we have the same values. We work together, we eat and we spend a lot of time together. In order to be a team, you have to bring everything out on the table, be open with each other. We have to be able to look out for each other. We have to be able to give more than we receive.
Project Manager
I try to do the best that I can no matter whether I’m at work or at home. As a boy scout leader I try to instill in kids that if you’re going to do something, you might as well put the effort into doing it right, otherwise, what’s the point?
Construction Manager
I push myself and drive myself. I want to go as far as I can. And I’m going to work as hard as I can to get there. Just showing up and doing what’s asked of me is not going to get me up that ladder. And that’s where I want to be. I’ve got to show up and do better than what’s asked of me. It’s just a moral code I have. Hard work always wins out.
